Cuttack, August 7: A jaundice outbreak has been reported in Gobindapur village under Badamba block, with 14 children admitted to Maniabandh Health Centre for treatment. A medical team has been deployed to the village for continued care.
Preliminary reports suggest the cause is contaminated water due to damaged pipelines in the Panchayat-run supply system.
Senior BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra and local MLA Bijaya Kumar Dalabehera visited the village, reviewed the situation, and held discussions with health officials. The MLA instructed immediate pipeline repairs and fast-tracking of the Mega Drinking Water Project. He also directed health centres to stock essential medicines and called for urgent improvements in sanitation and clean water supply.
