Jatani, Sept 26: The famous Ganesh Puja celebrations in Jatani will culminate with the immersion procession today, marking the end of 12 days of festivities that began on Ganesh Chaturthi.
Around 40 puja committees will take part in the grand immersion procession. The tableaux will assemble at Sitaram Chhak before proceeding in an organised manner through the main road to the designated immersion site. The city is expected to come alive with traditional bands, lights, dance and music.
All puja committees have emphasised a DJ-free and pollution-free procession.
For the immersion, Jatani Municipality has prepared four temporary water bodies at Sandhapur Mouza, along with dedicated roads, entry and exit arrangements, and lighting facilities.
The Commissionerate Police has made elaborate security arrangements. Two Additional DCPs, three ACPs, 11 inspectors and 42 SIs/ASIs, along with more than 15 platoons of police force, will be deployed to ensure a peaceful and orderly immersion.
The tableaux will begin leaving the puja mandaps from 4 pm, with the immersion scheduled to be completed by 11 pm.
Traffic restrictions have also been imposed for heavy vehicles during the procession. Heavy vehicles will be diverted at Kudiare Mahatab Nagar, Khudupur Chhak and near Sandhapur Hanuman Batika and routed through alternative roads.
Earlier on Friday, Visarjan Committee president Sangram Keshari Routray visited various puja mandaps and extended invitations by offering betel nuts, coconuts and bhog as part of the traditional ritual.
