Jajpur, May 5: In the wake of a major food poisoning incident in Dasharathpur, where over 100 people reportedly fell ill after consuming dahibara and fast food, the Jajpur Municipality has initiated strict enforcement measures across the region.

Acting swiftly, the municipal authorities conducted raids on all dahibara stalls, street vendors, and fast-food outlets operating within the municipal limits. Officials have also directed that these establishments remain closed for the next seven days as a precautionary measure.

A special inspection team, led by Health Officer Dr. Pradeep Khuntia, has been constituted to monitor the situation. The team carried out checks in several areas, including Kusuma, Medical Chhak, and Jodikua. Food samples have been collected from various outlets for quality testing to identify the source of contamination and prevent further spread.

Meanwhile, the municipal administration has urged residents to maintain hygiene and consume only boiled water as a safety measure.

According to reports, more than 90 people were taken ill after consuming dahibara in the Dasharathpur area. The affected individuals were admitted to nearby hospitals, while those in critical condition have been shifted to the district headquarters hospital for advanced treatment.
