J & K score 270 against Odisha in the Ranji Trophy

Bhubaneswar: Sumit Sharma made his first-class debut for the home team Odisha against Jammu & Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy match at Barabti Stadium in Cuttack on Friday, Sumit received the Odisha cap from Surendra Bhave, the head coach of the Odisha Senior Men’s team. A 5-wicket haul by Sumit restricted J & K for 270 in 70.3 overs.

Batting first, J&K got early set back while inform opener Subham Khajuria and Abhinav Puri were sent back with the score of total14 runs. Middle order batsman Abdul Samad and Sahil Lotra stitched 131 runs for the fifth wicket and consolidated the innings. Abdul scored 117-ball 127 runs and Sahil contributed 39 runs and the team total reached 270 runs in 70.3 overs. By the end of the day, Odisha scored 15 for 1 wicket.

The Ranji Trophy Group A opener between Odisha and Tripura in Agartala was abandoned due to continuous rain and wet outfield over four days. Both teams received a point each.

Jammu and Kashmir into the game with three points in their kitty, from their home match against formidable Maharashtra. Where J&K gathered massive 517/9 declared with opener Subham Khajuria scored 225 and wicket keeper Shivansh Sharma remined on 106 at No 7.
