Balangir, Jan 27: Young poet Sujit Kumar Satapathy, a resident of Salebhata in Agalpur Block, Balangir district, will be honored with the Saraswat Samman 2026 at the ongoing Mayurbhanj Book Fair.

Sujit has been selected in the Poetry category for his 2022 collection “Anamita Rahu Kichi”, published by Paschima Prakashan, Bhubaneswar. The collection explores human values, individual duties and rights, and psychological themes, earning critical acclaim.

The award will be presented during the fair’s closing celebrations on January 31, which began on January 23 at Chhau Padia, Baripada.

Sujit’s literary journey includes his first Odia poetry collection “Ichhabhati”, published under the Navodaya Scheme–2015 by the Central Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. His first Kosli poetry collection “Nura” was approved by the Language Development Board of the Central Sahitya Akademi and published in 2022. Other notable works include “Chaturtha Purusha”, “Chhuti Deba Samayaku”, “Shabdare Shabdare”, and the critical study “Dipti O Diganta”.

Currently, Sujit serves as a science teacher in Agalpur Panchayat, Balangir district.
