Keonjhar, Mar 13: Two police personnel sustained injuries after liquor traders allegedly attacked them during a raid on illegal liquor operations at Balitota village under Patna police station limits on Thursday evening.

The injured officers have been identified as Saharapada outpost officer Partha Oram and woman constable Hemalata Naik. Both were rescued and admitted to Patna Hospital for treatment.

According to police sources, the raid was carried out following information about illicit liquor sales in the area. A team from the Saharapada outpost, led by officer Partha Oram and accompanied by constable Hemalata Naik, reached Balitota village to conduct the operation.

During the raid, the team was allegedly attacked by liquor traders. Officer Oram was struck on the head with a stone, sustaining serious injuries, while constable Hemalata Naik also suffered injuries in the assault.

Both personnel were later rescued and shifted to Patna Hospital for medical care.

Ghatagaon SDPO Bijaya Mohapatra confirmed that the attack occurred while the police team was carrying out the raid. Patna police have launched a detailed investigation into both the assault and the illegal liquor trade in the area.
