Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: Odisha-cadre IPS officer Sarah Sharma has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a term of five years.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has informed the Chief Secretary of Odisha about the approval for the central deputation of Sarah Sharma. In a letter dated March 12, it stated, "It is requested that Sarah Sharma may be relieved immediately to enable her to take up the new assignment at the Centre."
Sarah Sharma was one of three Odisha police officers who joined the CBI investigation into ethnic violence in Manipur in September 2023. At that time, she was serving as SP (Vigilance) in Sambalpur and belongs to the 2010 batch of IPS officers.
