Cuttack, January 12: Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Cuttack, Dr. Satyajit Naik has been honoured with the prestigious DGP’s Disc on Monday, by the Director General of Police, Odisha, in recognition of his exemplary policing work during his tenure as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eastern Range (Balasore & Bhadrak).

The award was conferred on the occasion of the 90th Odisha Police Formation Day at a dignified ceremony held at the RK Padhi Memorial Hall ,Reserve Police Lane, Buxibazar, Cuttack. Dr. Naik is among the 119 Odisha Police personnel selected for the DGP’s Disc this year for exceptional services, dedication to duty, and outstanding leadership in maintaining law and order.

Dr. Naik received the honour for his significant contributions in the Eastern Range, particularly for maintaining communal harmony, effective handling of sensitive law and order situations, leading investigations into serious crimes, and curbing wildlife poaching. His tenure was marked by a balanced approach combining firm enforcement with proactive community engagement, dialogue with stakeholders, and long-term preventive strategies to ensure sustainable peace.

A 2008 batch IPS officer, Dr. Satyajit Naik has been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police, effective from January 1, 2026. Over the course of his career, he has held several key assignments, including DIG, Central Range and DIG, Eastern Range, earning a reputation for professional integrity, people-centric policing, and strategic leadership.

Expressing his gratitude on receiving the award, Dr. Naik said that the honour reflects the collective efforts of the police force and the guidance of senior leadership. He conveyed his sincere thanks to all ranks for their teamwork and support and reaffirmed his commitment to serve the people of Odisha with renewed dedication in his present role as IGP, Central Range, Cuttack.
