Sharma’s second consecutive half century guides MI Indians’ to their Fourth Consecutive Victory

Mumbai Indians (MI) continued their impressive mid-season resurgence in the 2025 Indian Premier League, securing their fourth consecutive victory with a comprehensive performance against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday, April 24th. An outstanding display from Mumbai's new-ball bowlers severely restricted Sunrisers, setting the stage for a comfortable seven-wicket win, anchored by Captain Rohit Sharma's second successive half-century.

New-Ball Pair had a go on Hyderabad

After winning the toss and electing to field, Mumbai Indians exploited helpful conditions perfectly. Trent Boult (4/26) and Deepak Chahar (2/12) were exceptional with the new ball, utilising swing and finding assistance from the slightly sluggish surface. Their incisive bowling dismantled the SRH top order, reducing them to 35 for 5 within the first nine overs. Key batsmen Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Ishan Kishan (dismissed controversially) all fell cheaply.

Klaasen's gave some consolation to Sunrisers

Facing a potential collapse to a very low total, Heinrich Klaasen played an innings of exceptional quality for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He scored a brilliant 71 off just 44 balls, counter-attacking effectively while demonstrating restraint when necessary. Klaasen shared a crucial 99-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Impact Player Abhinav Manohar (43 off 37). Their stand rescued SRH from 35 for 5 and lifted them to a respectable, albeit ultimately insufficient, total of 143 for 8. Mitchell Santner also bowled economically for MI, conceding only 19 runs in his four overs.

Rohit Sharma back in form

Mumbai Indians approached the chase of 144 with confidence. Captain Rohit Sharma, continuing his return to form, anchored the innings. Following up on his unbeaten 76 in the previous match, Rohit scored another fluent half-century, finishing unbeaten on 70. Despite the early loss of Ryan Rickelton, Rohit ensured the chase remained firmly under control, hitting several well-timed boundaries and sixes.

Suryakumar gave the final Finish

While Rohit provided the stability, Suryakumar Yadav delivered the finishing flourish. He played an aggressive, unbeaten innings of 40 from just 19 balls, ensuring Mumbai reached the target rapidly and secured a valuable boost to their net run rate. MI completed the victory with 26 balls to spare, losing only three wickets.
