Chennai, March 27: Captainship in high pressure cricket matches can bring additional burden and financial penalties as well.
Young Shubman Gill, who is leading Gujarat Titans (GT) this season, would have realised that on Tuesday night.
Not only Gill's side lost the match against a very well balanced and defending champions Chennai Super Kings, but Gill had to face the penalty for slow over-rate as well.
That certainly is a learning curve for young Gill, who otherwise seems to be a very well balanced leader. Things going smooth and his batting not being affected, which too seems unlikely at this juncture, Shubman Gill appears to be a real contended for Team India captaincy, though after a few years.
But the latest woe for Gujarat Titans captain Gill is, is he has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during his side's IPL 2024 match against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
"As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh," the statement from the tournament read.
On the match front, CSK came up with a clinical performance both with the bat and ball to beat last year’s finalists Gujarat Titans by 63 runs.
Titans are currently sixth on the points table with one win and as many as a loss while defending champions Super Kings are on top of the table with two wins to their kitty. (With IANS support)
