​​​​​​​Baripada, Dec 17: In a heart wrenching incident, a 5-year girl was allegedly raped by her grandfather in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.

The incident took place in a village under the Baripada Sadar Police limit.

The accused grandfather has been identified as Dilip Hembram.

According to the complaint, Dilip Hembram lured her minor granddaughter with an ill intension, offering a cake. Meanwhile, he took her to a secluded place behind the house, ouraged modesty of the kid and sexually assaulted her.

The victim, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to Baripada Hospital for resuscitation.

Responding to the minor girl’s ordeal, her parents lodged a complaint with the Sadar Police that led arrest of the grandfather.
