Visakhapatnam, June 21: Yoga shows the world the path to peace, especially during times of conflict, unrest, and instability, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on occasion of International Day of Yoga 2025 today.
He called on the world to make this Yoga Day the start of yoga for humanity 2.0, where inner peace becomes a global priority, while addressing the national event to mark the 11th International Day of Yoga at RK beach in Visakhapatnam
PM Modi underlined the significance of yoga for happiness and peace and conducted the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) with more than three lakh people at the beach area.
"It is sad that the world is witnessing tensions and unrest and there is growing instability in many corners. At such a time, yoga provides us with a way to peace. It is the pause we need as human beings to breathe, find balance, and heal," said Modi.
He emphasized that yoga should be not only an individual experience, but also a global transformation in which every country and every society embraces it and makes it part of their lifestyles and public policies.
Wishing everyone a happy 11th International Day of Yoga, the Prime Minister pointed out that yoga in not just exercise but an entire way of becoming human. "Yoga means to connect, and it has connected the world," he reiterated.
He recalled all the way back to 2014, when a resolution was proposed by India, at the United Nations, to make June 21, International Yoga Day and how in a short span of time 175 countries supported the resolution.
"This support was not just related to a resolution; it was a world movement for the benefit of all humanity," he said.
"After 11 years, we can see that yoga has become a part of millions of people’s lives worldwide. Whether it's at the Opera House, the top of Mount Everest, or the open sea, the message is clear: Yoga is for everyone, no matter where they come from, their age, or abilities," he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized the unity behind yoga. He said, "This year's theme for International Yoga Day is ‘Yoga For One Earth, One Health’. It shows that everything on Earth is connected. Our well-being depends on the health of the soil that grows our food, the rivers that give us water, the animals in our ecosystems, and the plants that nourish us. Yoga helps us realize this connection and teaches us that we are part of nature, not separate from it."
Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, along with others were also present at the event.
