Powerful rain clouds leave Delhi to soak dry Rajasthan

Heavy rain that recently flooded streets across Delhi and the National Capital Region is currently shifting westward. Meteorologists confirm that this powerful weather system will bring strong showers to Rajasthan over the next 24 to 48 hours. Storms will also continue to hit parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and northern Madhya Pradesh during this period.

Tracking the westward shift

Weather experts link these intense downpours to a distinct low-pressure zone that formed over western Uttar Pradesh. This setup drove widespread thunderstorms across the capital area, breaking the humid heat. Now, this same moisture-rich cloud band is moving toward northern Rajasthan. Forecasters expect this system to stay active for another 36 to 48 hours. Historically, late-stage monsoon shifts are crucial for northern agriculture, dictating soil moisture levels for the entire winter planting cycle.

Prevailing wind patterns over northern India are making this rainfall even stronger. Right now, the main monsoon trough stretches across the northwest before reaching out to the Bay of Bengal. This specific alignment creates perfect conditions for heavy rain clouds to build up and spread out continuously.

Relief for local farmers

Residents in the capital region might still see scattered showers as leftover clouds pass through the area today. However, the bulk of the storm is squarely aimed at the western states. Local officials warn people to stay alert for flooded streets, poor driving visibility, and general travel delays over the weekend.
