Islamabad, February 6: A suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in Islamabad has left at least 25 people dead and over 100 others injured, according to local authorities. The blast took place at the Khadija Tul Kubra mosque, located in the Tarlai Kalan area of southeastern Islamabad, as worshippers gathered for Friday prayers.

Rescue teams immediately responded to the scene, transferring 101 victims to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, the Islamabad administration confirmed.

The exact cause of the explosion remains unclear, as police spokesperson Taqi Jawad stated that investigations are ongoing, according to local news outlet Dawn.

In the wake of the tragedy, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his profound sorrow, condemning the attack and offering his condolences to the victims' families.

This bombing comes less than three months after a similar attack in November, when a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the Islamabad District Judicial Complex, killing at least 12 people and injuring dozens more.
