Missing organs in deceased sailor trigger foul play
Relatives of deceased Merchant Navy worker Rakesh Chauhan face a horrifying reality after his body returned from Venezuela stripped of all internal organs. Medical examiners in Uttar Pradesh discovered twenty-two deep surgical incisions across his body, with his brain, heart, and lungs completely removed. This grisly discovery occurred nearly a month after the 33-year-old marine fitter reportedly died from injuries sustained on his assigned ship.
Discrepancies Raise Foul Play Suspicions
Working in politically and economically volatile nations like Venezuela often leaves Indian migrant workers isolated from immediate diplomatic protection or legal recourse during overseas emergencies. Taking up the cause, leaders from the Federation of Seafarers' Unions of India (FSUI) have forcefully intervened to seek justice for the family. They flagged forged employment documents, including improperly signed receipts for his remains, and unexplainable discrepancies regarding his actual vessel. Union representatives are currently demanding urgent action from Indian embassy officials stationed in Caracas to uncover what exactly transpired.
Deceit and Missing Evidence
Tragedy struck the Chauhan household on May 7 when employers initially claimed Rakesh fell due to dizziness. Company officials later declared he died from an apparent heart attack during medical treatment. However, they deliberately concealed the foreign autopsy procedures from his grieving family. Deoria district magistrate Madhusudan Hulgi ordered a secondary post-mortem immediately upon the body's arrival in India.
This domestic examination exposed the missing viscera, making it impossible for forensic experts to determine the actual cause of his sudden death. Rakesh originally traveled abroad to secure a better financial future for his six-month-old child, only to return in a tragically mutilated state. His widowed wife and surviving family members have exhausted their savings and are desperately seeking financial compensation and strict accountability for this loss.
