Indian boxer Preeti Pawar secures 54kg gold at Glasgow

Preeti Pawar captured India's first boxing gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She defeated Canada's Scarlett Delgado by a unanimous decision in the women's 54kg final on Saturday. Delgado started the bout by landing early punches. Pawar stayed calm and found her rhythm quickly. The Indian athlete used her left hook perfectly to counter incoming attacks. All judges gave the first round to Pawar with a clear 5-0 score.

Pawar grew more confident during the second round. She threw sharp combinations that forced the referee to give Delgado a standing count. Judges awarded this round to Pawar 5-0 as well.
