Bhubaneswar, December 13: Following recent violence in Malkangiri, the district administration has extended the internet shutdown for 36 hours, effective until Monday noon.

On the other hand, the administration has lifted BNS Section 163 in Rakhalguda and MV-26 villages.

The recent unrest caused an estimated Rs 3.8 crore in damages.

District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay informed that ongoing talks with tribal leaders are to restore peace, with expectations of resolving the land dispute soon. Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the MV-26 violence, and one person has been jailed for a murder case.

Authorities have provided relief to affected families, including Rs 30,000 to the deceased's family, with an additional Rs 4 lakh requested from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Power and water supply have been restored, and essential food support is being provided to students and pregnant women.
