New Delhi, May 08: In a measured response to recent provocations, the Indian Armed Forces this morning launched strikes targeting multiple air defence radars and systems across Pakistan.
According to reliable sources, one of the key air defence systems in Lahore has been neutralized, said a press release issued by the Ministry of Defence.
The action follows Pakistan’s overnight attempt, between May 7 and 8, to strike multiple military targets across Northern and Western India using drones and missiles. Locations targeted included Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.
India's Integrated Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Grid and Air Defence network successfully intercepted and neutralized these threats. Debris from the intercepted drones and missiles is currently being recovered from several areas, offering tangible evidence of the Pakistani offensive.
Simultaneously, Pakistan has escalated unprovoked cross-border shelling along the Line of Control (LoC), using mortars and heavy artillery in sectors including Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir.
Tragically, the cross-border aggression has resulted in the deaths of 16 civilians, including three women and five children.
India was compelled to respond to bring Mortar and Artillery fire from Pakistan to a halt.
