Berhampur, July 15: A young woman allegedly died after setting herself on fire in Berhampur's Shantinagar Lane-5 under the Badabazar police station limits on Wednesday morning.

According to preliminary information, the woman allegedly poured kerosene on herself and set herself ablaze. She suffered critical burn injuries and was initially rushed for treatment. However, she reportedly died while being shifted to Cuttack for advanced medical care.

The motive behind the alleged self-immolation is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
