Why 15 Year Old Star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Will Change Separately From Senior Team In England

Fifteen year old cricket sensation requires separate facilities in England

Fifteen-year-old cricket prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will use separate changing facilities during his upcoming tour with India's senior men's squad. Strict safeguarding policies enforced by international cricket authorities require this unique arrangement for the scheduled games in Ireland and England. Following his spectacular performance scoring 776 runs in IPL 2026, he quickly earned his spot in the national setup. He is currently set to debut and break long-standing age records.

Strict Safeguarding Rules for Young Players

International Cricket Council and England and Wales Cricket Board regulations explicitly prohibit players under sixteen from utilizing adult locker rooms. Consequently, he will receive his own private facilities at every stadium. He remains fully permitted inside the main dressing room for strategic team talks and match viewing. This specific restriction only applies to moments when he gets changed before and after each sporting event.

Such early debuts naturally evoke memories of Sachin Tendulkar entering the international arena at just sixteen years old back in 1989. To help him adjust to an adult sporting environment, his parents will accompany him throughout the entire white-ball tour. Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Devajit Saikia explained this thoughtful decision. He noted that integrating a young teenager into a senior athletic squad always requires careful handling.

Saikia emphasized that very few national setups ever feature a fifteen-year-old athlete playing at the highest level. He directly compared the situation to school excursions where older guardians regularly accompany young students for safety and comfort. Bringing his parents along helps him stay grounded around highly experienced players and senior coaching staff. He will participate in seven total matches starting late June in Belfast. This series could make him the youngest Indian debutant ever.
