G. Udayagiri, Ap 16: Residents of Nandagiri on the Kalinga National Highway near G. Udayagiri were left terrified when a tusker went on a rampage last night, damaging homes and agricultural crops. Several banana trees and other crops were destroyed during the incident, though fortunately no one was seriously injured.
According to eyewitnesses, three tuskers were causing widespread fear among locals. Many residents had to step outside their homes in panic as the elephants moved through the area.
This stretch of road is a busy thoroughfare, with hundreds of vehicles, including two-wheelers, navigating here daily. The presence of the elephants on the highway has raised concerns for both human safety and traffic management.
Authorities have been urged to take immediate and necessary steps to drive the elephants away and prevent further damage and potential accidents.
