Odisha’s Tapan Mohanty grabbed the spotlight on the second day of the Junior and Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championship 2026–27 by securing the Senior Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) All-Around title. Delivering a technically superior performance across various apparatus, Mohanty finished with a commanding score of 73.433. This triumph highlights the success of the Odisha government’s sustained investment in world-class sports infrastructure, particularly the Gymnastics High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar.

Senior MAG Results Breakdown

Competition remained fierce throughout the session as Haryana’s Yogeshwar Singh followed closely behind, earning the silver medal with a score of 72.667. Shayan Sharma rounded out the podium in third place, finishing with 71.268. These athletes displayed high-level execution, reflecting the rising technical standards within the Indian gymnastics circuit.

Beyond individual glory, the home contingent celebrated reaching the Senior MAG Team Championship Final. This collective success confirms Odisha’s status as a powerhouse in the discipline. Presence of high-ranking officials, including Gymnastics Federation of India President Sudhir Mital and Fencing Association of India Secretary General Rajeev Mehta, emphasized the event's importance. Their attendance provided a morale boost to the competitors as the tournament moves toward its final stages. Athletes now prepare for the upcoming apparatus finals where individual skills will be tested further.
