New Delhi, July 4: Senior IPS officer Arun Bothra has strongly criticised murder accused Siya Goyal after a video showing her making a middle finger gesture at media personnel while being escorted by police went viral on social media. The incident occurred during the investigation into the alleged murder of her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal, in Pune.
Sharing a screenshot of the viral video on X, Bothra said that during his policing career, he had dealt with several hardened criminals and murder accused. He noted that most of them eventually exhibited some degree of remorse, guilt or emotional conflict, particularly when the victim was innocent.
However, Bothra said Siya Goyal's conduct reflected a "chilling absence" of any such emotion. Describing her behaviour as cold and remorseless, he said her gesture towards the media was deeply disturbing.
According to the police, Siya Goyal, along with her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to murder her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal. Investigators allege that the duo pushed Agarwal into a gorge at Lohagad Fort after meticulously planning the crime.
The investigation is underway, with police continuing to collect evidence. The case is currently under judicial scrutiny.
