The RCFCE Act was passed by the Parliament in 2009 to provide free and compulsory elementary education to all children of the age of six to fourteen years in the country. The Act intends to provide equity in educational opportunities, by creating an inclusive and integrated schooling system by mandating private unaided schools to reserve at least 25% of the seats, in their entry classes, for children coming from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, under Section 12(1)(c).
Accordingly, the School and Mass Education Department has launched online RTE-PARADARSHI portal to manage the implementation of the provision with more transparency and accountability.
