The Hague [Netherlands], May 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday invited Dutch companies to design and innovate in India, emphasizing that “there could be no better time than today” as the country’s manufacturing sector becomes increasingly cost-effective. Speaking at the CEO Round Table on Economic Ties, he highlighted that over 300 Dutch companies are already part of India’s growth story.

“Recent reforms in taxation, labour codes, and governance have made manufacturing in India highly competitive. Electronics, once largely imported, is now India’s top export. To elevate manufacturing further, we are offering incentives across key sectors. Companies can leverage these opportunities to manufacture in India for the global market,” PM Modi said.

He also stressed India’s growing prowess in the services sector, driven by talent and innovation. “Many global technology firms have established their Global Capability Centers in India. We invite all of you to design and innovate here,” he added.

PM Modi acknowledged the role of Dutch companies in strengthening India-Netherlands relations. “Your vision and confidence in India have made the Netherlands our largest investor and second-largest trading partner in Europe. Your companies are not just brands in India—they are ambassadors of India-Netherlands friendship,” he said.

Marking the occasion, PM Modi noted that May 16 coincides with the announcement of the 2014 Lok Sabha election results, which brought him to power. “Today marks my 12th year as Prime Minister of the world’s largest democracy. Over these years, continuous reforms have transformed India’s economic DNA,” he reflected.

He also highlighted this year’s historic India-EU Free Trade Agreement, describing it as a strong foundation for shared prosperity between the world’s two largest democratic and responsible powers.
