Paradip hosts two-day joint military exercise ‘Sagar Kavach-1’

Paradip, Mar 24: Paradip has begun a two-day joint military exercise, ‘Sagar Kavach-1’, aimed at strengthening coastal security. Organized annually by both the state and central governments after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, this exercise demonstrates strategies to prevent terrorist attacks and unauthorized intrusions via sea routes.

This year’s first exercise has commenced in deep-sea areas, with over ten departments participating in this military exercise. The exercise showcases advanced skills in coastal defence and counter-terrorism operations.

In the deep sea, the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Fisheries Department Marine Police, and other maritime forces are taking the lead. Coastal security is being supported by CISF, Customs Department, Fire Services, Odisha Police, Forest Department, and Paradip Port authorities.

All participating departments have been divided into teams. The Red Team simulates terrorists attempting to infiltrate via sea and attack inland, while the Blue Team is deployed on land to prevent and neutralize such attacks. The exercise began on Tuesday morning, covering both maritime and terrestrial operations.
