Bhubaneswar, September 22: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Odisha Assembly on Monday that the State Vigilance Department had uncovered disproportionate assets totaling ₹202.58 crore from government officials during raids conducted between July 1, 2024, and September 15, 2025.
In response to a query by Baliguda BJD MLA Chakramani Kanhar, Majhi detailed the seizures, which included ₹8.38 crore in cash, 218 flats, 775 plots, 13 farmhouses, 16 gold biscuits, 25.55 kg of gold jewelry, ₹44.21 crore in bank deposits, and ₹43.02 crore in insurance policies.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that over the 15-month period, complaints were lodged against 78,785 individuals, leading to cases being registered by 170 different departments. While several key suspects have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, others were initially let go due to insufficient evidence. Majhi assured, however, that as new evidence comes to light, arrests and charge sheets are being filed to ensure justice and conviction.
Majhi reiterated that the Vigilance Department remains committed to gathering more evidence and intensifying its efforts in the ongoing fight against corruption in Odisha.
