Bhubaneswar, June 2:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday evening issued a Yellow Nowcast Warning for nine districts of Odisha, predicting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty surface winds over the next three hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, thunderstorms with lightning and wind speeds of 30-40 kmph are likely to affect one or two places in Khordha district, including Bhubaneswar city, along with Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj districts.
The warning, released at 5:30 pm, urges residents of the affected districts to remain alert and keep track of changing weather conditions.
The IMD has advised people to move to safer locations whenever required and take necessary precautions against lightning strikes and other thunderstorm-related risks.
The weather department said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation and has asked the public to follow official advisories and updates issued by local authorities.
