Odisha: Illegal arms manufacturing unit busted in Ganjam, two arrested

Ganjam Police on Thursday dismantled an illegal firearms manufacturing unit operating in a forested area of Ganjam district and arrested two persons allegedly linked to the operation, officials said.

​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, August 6:  Ganjam Police on Thursday dismantled an illegal firearms manufacturing unit operating in a forested area of Ganjam district and arrested two persons allegedly linked to the operation, officials said.

Acting on specific inputs, a police team raided the site near the Siarimala forest under the jurisdiction of Buguda police station. During the operation, officers seized two country-made firearms, several weapon components, and tools and equipment used for manufacturing illegal guns.

The arrested accused were identified as Subash Gamang (45) and Bulu Dalabehera (50), both residents of Jhadapalli village under Gangapur police station limits.

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of raw materials and identify others who may be connected to the illegal firearms manufacturing network.
