Bhubaneswar, July 2: The Odisha government has declared the Odia film 'Afaa' tax-free. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday approved the proposal, recognising the film's strong social message and its potential to raise public awareness on organ donation.
Directed by Pritiraj Satpathy and produced by Naina Das Tiwari, 'Afaa' is centred on the theme of organ donation and highlights the values of humanity, compassion and selflessness. The film tells the story of a 16-year-old girl battling a prolonged serious illness who chooses to donate her organs, showcasing extraordinary courage despite life's adversities.
The state government believes the film will play a significant role in inspiring the younger generation and promoting awareness about organ donation. It is also expected to encourage positive social change by reinforcing the importance of empathy and the life-saving impact of organ donation.
