Bhubaneswar, July 14: The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved the continuation of Mukhya Mantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY), a flagship initiative aimed at promoting commercial agriculture and agri-entrepreneurship in the state.
The scheme has been approved for a five-year period from 2026-27 to 2030-31, with a total financial outlay of ₹2,496.40 crore.
Under the scheme, the government will provide capital investment subsidy to eligible entrepreneurs for establishing commercial agri-enterprises. The initiative is designed to encourage agricultural diversification, promote modern farming technologies, and enhance the production of high-value agricultural and horticultural crops.
According to the government, MKUY seeks to facilitate the establishment of commercial agri-enterprises in agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, and animal resources sectors. The scheme is expected to strengthen value addition and processing facilities, create employment opportunities in rural areas, and improve farmers' income through sustainable agricultural development.
During the five-year implementation period, the state government aims to establish around 8,500 commercial agri-enterprises with the support of the capital investment subsidy.
The Cabinet believes the scheme will play a significant role in accelerating Odisha's agricultural transformation by attracting private investment, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating a robust ecosystem for agribusiness across the state.
