Odisha Cabinet approves ₹6,700 crore TRIP scheme to upgrade 25,500 km of roads

Bhubaneswar, July 14: The Odisha Cabinet has approved the MMSY-Transferred Roads Improvement Programme (TRIP) to upgrade roads transferred from the Panchayati Raj (PR) Department and other departments across the state.

The scheme will be implemented over a five-year period from 2025-26 to 2029-30 with a total financial outlay of ₹6,700 crore. Under the programme, nearly 25,500 kilometres of roads will be upgraded to improve connectivity and road infrastructure across Odisha.

The Cabinet has also approved the completion of all ongoing projects under the scheme during the implementation period to ensure timely delivery of infrastructure works.

According to the state government, the primary objective of the TRIP scheme is to strengthen road connectivity and provide easier access to essential public services. The upgraded road network will improve connectivity to Panchayats, schools, colleges, hospitals, markets, trade and commerce centres, and tourist destinations, thereby enhancing mobility and accessibility for people across the state.

The government said the initiative will particularly benefit residents of remote and underserved areas by integrating them more closely with the mainstream and improving their access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. The improved connectivity is also expected to contribute to the overall socio-economic development and enhance the quality of life in rural Odisha.
