Modi Slams Attack on UAE Infrastructure And Calls For Immediate Peace In West Asia

Three Indians injured during Fujairah drone strike on infrastructure

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sharp condemnation on Tuesday after three Indian citizens were injured during a drone strike in the United Arab Emirates. The incident occurred at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone (FOIZ), where an aerial attack triggered a significant fire at the energy facility. Local authorities in the UAE have attributed the strike to Iranian forces, marking a sharp escalation in regional hostilities.

India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE while advocating for a peaceful resolution through diplomatic channels. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that targeting innocent civilians and vital infrastructure is entirely unacceptable. He further highlighted that maintaining safe and open movement through the Strait of Hormuz remains essential for global energy stability and regional security.

The recent violence has placed additional strain on a fragile ceasefire between international powers. Since the Strait of Hormuz handles roughly 20% of the world's liquid energy shipments, any disruption there typically causes immediate fluctuations in fuel prices. This specific location in Fujairah is historically significant as the world's second-largest bunkering hub, making it a sensitive target for any disruption in the Gulf of Oman.

Diplomatic officials from the Indian Embassy are currently working with local health providers to ensure the injured nationals receive necessary medical attention. While the identities of the victims have not been released, officials are monitoring their recovery closely. New Delhi has joined the international community in calling for an end to hostile acts that threaten the safety of foreign workers and maritime commerce.
