Sambalpur, May 29: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, has signed three MoUs with Angul district administration for implementation of various community development and infrastructure projects in the district.
The initiatives aim to promote sustainable livelihoods, strengthen civic infrastructure and improve connectivity for local communities in Angul district.
Under the first MoU, MCL will provide financial assistance of ₹31.56 lakh for formation of suitable aroma clusters at Tainsi, Bantala and Bagedia villages in Angul district. Around 2,200 farmers registered under Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) will benefit from this initiative. The project icludes promotion of aromatic crop cultivation, establishment of distillation units, skill development, women-led livelihood activities and adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
While the other two MoUs are made for improving civic infrastructure in the district, MCL will provide ₹2.61 crore for construction of roads and cross-drainage works at Dhouragatha village in Angul district, which is expected to benefit 109 resettled families belonging to socially backward communities by improving accessibility and civic infrastructure.
Similarly, for execution of six development projects under Talcher Municipality aimed at strengthening drainage systems and improving public infrastructure, ₹1 crore will be provided under its CSR initiative by MCL.
These developmental initiatives are expected to significantly improve civic amenities, connectivity, sanitation and drainage infrastructure in the region, thereby enhancing the quality of life of the local communities.
