Man guns down father over property dispute in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, April 20: In a chilling act of violence, a man fatally shot his father in a property dispute in Pichhodi village, Barwani district, Madhya Pradesh. The 32-year-old accused, Chandan Badole, allegedly gunned down his 58-year-old father, Jagan Badole, following a heated argument over money.

According to police, Chandan had been demanding a substantial sum of Rs 200,000 or more from his father, who had previously lent him the same amount. However, Jagan refused to provide additional funds, which led to mounting tensions between the two. Chandan, a former welder, had been pressuring his father for the money in recent days.

The tragic incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Monday, as Jagan was returning home with his wife, Gauri Bai, an Anganwadi worker. Chandan reportedly stopped them on the road, and after a brief verbal altercation, he pulled out a country-made pistol and shot his father near his ear, killing him instantly.

Gauri Bai, who witnessed the murder, immediately alerted the police and gave a detailed account of the incident. Chandan fled the scene after the shooting, and authorities have since launched an extensive search to apprehend him.

Investigators also uncovered a social media post by Chandan before the crime, in which he claimed that his father owned ample land but was withholding money from him. The authorities are closely examining this post as part of the investigation.

Further investigation revealed that Jagan had previously loaned money to Chandan by mortgaging a piece of land, further complicating the family’s financial situation. Family sources disclosed that Chandan’s violent tendencies had caused significant strain in his personal life, leading to his wife leaving him. His younger brother has remained uninvolved in the dispute.

This tragic incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with residents expressing shock at the brutality of the killing over a financial dispute. Police officials have emphasized the increasing concern about domestic disputes escalating into violence and vowed to investigate all aspects of the case, including Chandan's social media activity and past behaviour.

The body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem, and the manhunt for Chandan continues. Authorities assured the public that all angles of the case would be thoroughly examined.
