Major maoist surrender: 41 rebels lay down arms

Malkanagiri, Dec 20: In a significant development for law enforcement, 41 Maoists surrendered to the Telangana police in Hyderabad, choosing to abandon violence and reintegrate into mainstream society. Among them, 24 hardcore rebels handed over firearms, BG launchers, and explosives.

Authorities had earlier announced a reward of ₹1.46 crore for the surrender of these Maoists. Following the deaths of top leaders, the organization has reportedly faced a leadership vacuum, prompting many cadres to lose faith and come forward for surrender.

The surrendering Maoists, previously involved in multiple violent incidents, have expressed their decision to lead a normal life. In line with government rehabilitation policies, each Maoist will receive a ₹25,000 cheque, along with additional benefits to support their reintegration, according to police officials.

This mass surrender is being seen as a major setback for the Maoist movement in Telangana, signaling the weakening influence of the armed group.
