Bhubaneswar/Puri, June 1:In a proactive effort to strengthen policing standards and enhance public service delivery, Inspector General of Police (Central Range),Dr. Satyajit Naik, carried out a surprise inspection of the Brahmagiri Police Station in Puri district on Monday.

During the unannounced visit, Dr. Naik reviewed pending case records, examined digital entries maintained under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), and assessed the effectiveness of public grievance redressal mechanisms. He also interacted directly with citizens visiting the police station to gather feedback on police services.

The IG inspected critical facilities, including the station armory and malkhana, and directed personnel to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and accountability. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach toward negligence, he instructed officers to ensure prompt, sensitive, and citizen-friendly services, particularly for women, children, and senior citizens.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Naik conducted a comprehensive review of security and crowd-management arrangements at the Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri ahead of the upcomingAnasara Darshanof Lord Jagannath, which begins after the Snana Purnima rituals and attracts thousands of devotees.

As part of the inspection, the IG assessed entry and exit routes, emergency evacuation plans, and designated parking areas intended to accommodate the expected surge in pilgrim traffic. He also held discussions with temple administration officials, sevayats, and local police officers to identify and address potential operational challenges.

To ensure smooth crowd movement and public safety, Dr. Naik directed authorities to implement systematic queue-management measures and strengthen security deployment through static police posts, mobile patrol teams, and plainclothes personnel. He also stressed the importance of close coordination with civil authorities to provide essential facilities such as drinking water points, shaded waiting areas, and first-aid booths for devotees during the summer season.

Special traffic management arrangements, including the creation of outer-ring parking zones, have been planned to prevent congestion and keep major access roads to Brahmagiri free-flowing during peak darshan days.

Concluding the review, Dr. Naik underscored the need for a people-centric approach to policing and crowd management. He urged personnel to handle devotees with patience, empathy, and vigilance, ensuring a safe, secure, and spiritually fulfilling experience for all visitors. Temple authorities and local police officials have assured full preparedness and coordination for the forthcoming religious event.
