Hyundai achieves record 51,902 domestic unit sales this April

Hyundai Motor India Limited started the new financial year with a significant milestone, recording its highest-ever domestic sales for April since the company began operations. The automaker dispatched 51,902 units to the domestic market in April 2026, representing a robust 17 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This performance highlights the growing appetite for passenger vehicles in India, which remains one of the world's fastest-growing automotive markets.

SUV Demand Powers Growth

Recent product updates across various segments helped maintain this strong momentum. Specifically, the Venue compact SUV achieved its best-ever monthly performance with 12,420 units sold. Industry analysts attribute this success to improved consumer awareness regarding vehicle safety, especially following the 5-star Bharat NCAP rating awarded to the Venue and its N Line variant. Other models like the Exter, Verna, and the Ioniq 5 electric crossover also saw steady interest from buyers seeking modern features and tech-driven interiors.

Steady Export Performance

Beyond domestic borders, the manufacturer maintained a stable presence in international markets. Overseas shipments reached 13,708 units during the month. Managing Director Tarun Garg noted that the company has successfully carried forward the positive energy from previous months into the 2026-27 financial year. While global logistics and supply chain variables remain a factor, the local demand for specialized editions, such as the Creta Summer Edition and Venue Knight Edition continues to drive showroom traffic.

Odisha has emerged as a key growth pocket for the brand in Eastern India, with Bhubaneswar and Cuttack seeing a surge in registrations for mid-size SUVs. This regional trend mirrors the national shift toward high-riding vehicles that offer better ground clearance for diverse road conditions.

Looking ahead, the company plans to focus on further innovation and expanding its electric vehicle portfolio. By integrating benchmark safety standards with a delightful ownership experience, the brand aims to solidify its position in the competitive Indian landscape.
