Bhubaneswar, June 29: A truck allegedly hit a scooter in Bhubaneswar and dragged it for nearly a kilometre in Jharpada overbridge on Sunday evening, leaving the rider critically injured.

Eyewitnesses said the scooter got trapped beneath the truck, caught fire, and was dragged until the vehicle stopped. Some locals alleged the driver appeared to be intoxicated.

The incident triggered protests, with angry residents vandalising the truck. Police from Laxmisagar Police Station reached the spot, detained the driver, and brought the situation under control.

The injured rider was admitted to Capital Hospital, while police have launched an investigation into the incident.
