Athagarh, Ap 6: In a remarkable celebration of tradition, the historic Raghunath Ji Ramlila Natya Sangh of Athagarh continues to enchant audiences with its timeless performances. At a time when Odisha’s rich cultural practices are increasingly fading, this esteemed troupe has kept the heritage alive in select locations, offering a glimpse into the state’s vibrant past.

The Ramlila, showcasing the divine story of Lord Rama, mesmerizes spectators with heartfelt portrayals of Sita and other key characters. One particularly striking scene, the burning of Lanka by the Hanuman has left the audience spellbound. Rasmi Ranjan’s compelling performance as Hanuman held thousands of viewers in rapt attention, demonstrating the troupe’s mastery of classical storytelling.

Marking its 78th year, the festival begins on Ram Navami and will continue to present episodes from the epic Ramayana, tracing Lord Rama’s journey from birth to the slaying of Ravana.
