Floodwaters sweep thousands of HPCL cylinders into Patalganga River

Torrential rainfall in Maharashtra's Raigad district caused severe flooding that breached an HPCL LPG bottling plant. Fast-flowing waters damaged the facility's protective boundary wall and pushed approximately 3,000 gas cylinders directly into the nearby waterways. Astonished locals filmed countless red containers bobbing along the turbulent currents of the Patalganga River and Kharpada Creek.

Urgent Safety Warnings Issued For Locals

Authorities worry that many floating containers still hold volatile LPG fuel. Raigad Collector Kishan Javle issued strict safety guidelines to all residents in the affected area. He pleaded with citizens to avoid retrieving these items for personal use out of curiosity. Keeping potentially loaded tanks at home poses extreme explosion risks because their structural condition remains completely unknown after tumbling through rocky riverbeds.

Officials request immediate cooperation from anyone who spots these stranded items along the riverbanks. People must hand recovered containers directly to the original company, local dealers, or designated government offices like the Khalapur Tehsildar Office. Continuous downpours have severely disrupted daily life across western India over the past week. Emergency response teams remain heavily engaged in rescue operations across multiple flooded districts, making public safety and cooperation the highest priority right now.
