Bhubaneswar, April 3: Chandrashekharpur Police have busted a fake CID racket and arrested eight persons for allegedly impersonating officials and extorting money from educational institutions and business establishments.

According to police, the accused posed as CID officers and gained entry into various educational institutions, where they threatened authorities by citing alleged irregularities and collected money. They also targeted several business establishments, conducting fake inspections and extorting cash from owners.

The gang was caught red-handed outside a private educational institution under Chandrashekharpur police limits while demanding money using fake credentials. All eight accused have been arrested and forwarded to court for further legal action.
