Bengaluru, July 2: At least eight daily-wage labourers, most of them from Bihar, lost their lives after a massive granite rock collapsed at a stone quarry in Bengaluru South Taluk on Thursday, police said.
The incident took place early Thursday morning at Madapattana, a village located along the border of Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru South district.
According to police, the victims were working at a stone crusher unit when the huge granite rock gave way, trapping them under heavy boulders. All eight workers died at the scene before rescue teams could reach them.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse.
