Bhubaneswar, July 8: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully conducted the flight test of thePinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR)at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha.

The rocket was tested at a user-defined minimum range of 60 km and accurately struck its target after executing all planned in-flight manoeuvres, precisely following the predicted trajectory. All range instruments successfully tracked the flight throughout the test.

Developed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) in collaboration with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), with support from the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) and Research Centre Imarat (RCI), the LRGR was launched from the existing Pinaka launcher, demonstrating its capability to fire different Pinaka variants from the same platform.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed the successful trial as a major milestone in India's indigenous long-range guided rocket development, while Defence Secretary and DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh congratulated the teams involved in the successful test.
