Bhubaneswar, July 25: Dharmendra Pradhan, a heart-and-soul student-leader who was offered a niche in Narendra Modi-led government having a well decorated political rise, resigned on Saturday.
Heading moral responsibility over the NEET Exam row, the veteran BJP leader spontaneously stepped down all of a sudden today, who remained yet committed for the sake of nation.
With Pradhan's resignation, acknowledged by PM Modi for the impending pressure on the Center relating the CJP protest, cut short the people-leader’s tenure as a successful Education Minister, who crafted the best to add innovation to the Indian system of education and had dreamt a lot more for the students of the coming generations.
As on record, Pradhan had been one of the most consistently successful Ministers in the Modi government's golden periods as he was trusted to be assigned at least three pivotal Ministries, for his hard work, commitment and vision.
Born on 26 June 1969 in Odisha’s Talcher Sub-division, that too in a rural suburb, Pradhan made his debut in active student politics through the ABVP in 1983. His organizing skills, public address aptitudes and stupendous leadership quality, elevated him to a higher altitude during his college life. Meanwhile, he continued his associated with BJP, beginning with the district-level organization from the homeland Angul.
In electoral politics in a first, Pradhan won the Odisha Legislative Assembly election from Pallahara Constituency, on the first feat of facing direct election.
Later, he represented the Deogarh Lok Sabha Constituency, and later the Rajya Sabha representing Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, he joined the Modi-led Union Council of Ministers and proved his efficiencies, heading some prime responsibilities including Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas with Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
During his tenure as Minister for the Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Pradhan devised World Skill Centre concept that groomed youths empowering them with sustainable master arts bringing abundant job & employment offers across the globe.
As of now the World Skill Centres established in almost all the states, have now been educational and life-centered hubs for incubating skilled professional drawing out the best from traditional people’s technology here to AI-powered techno skills bringing employability expertise among the youths.
Later, Pradhan was assigned the Ministry of Education based on his performances, in up-skilling the nation’s youth potential. Among other achievements in education,the National Education Policy-2020, Textbooks in regional languages, Medical & Technical Education in regional languages, establishing IIT campuses overseas, signing MoUs with ace global universities for socio-cultural exchange & research, tagging Indian technical institutions with Washington Accord & Dublin Accord to ensuring global reach of Indian technology, are some glorious brainchildren of Pradhan.
Pradhan was elected to the Lok Sabha from Sambalpur in the 2024 general election, continuing as the Union Education Minister during Modi’s 3.0 innings.
Pradhan’s ministerial portfolio spanned some of the country's most strategically significant positions. In the Union government, he served as Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Minister of Steel, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Minister of Education, as one of the youth brigades of the PM and Amit Shah as well.
Pradhan’s tenure with India's petroleum sector, coincided with a period of significant bilateral energy diplomacy. The period was widely regarded as one of his most consequential postings, expanding India's engagement with Gulf producers and making him a recognizable icon of Indian economic diplomacy abroad in regard to the nation’s stance in Energy & fuel security.
With Pradhan’s sea transformations in the education landscape, Prime Minister Modi retained Pradhan as Education Minister for the third time following his thumping victory in the Sambalpur LS constituency, here in Odisha in the 2024 general election.
During the 3rd consecutive innings, Pradhan contributed a lot to the Primary, Secondary, Higher & Technical Education frameworks, with his visionary innovations, in order to formulate a global-framework of education that will address the needs and aspirations of the GenZ, in placing them in respectable positions, after achieving world-class skills and presentable careers.
Pradhan’s dreams & distant visions, with his intervening resignation today, however remained un-translated for the time being while the avid leader’s futuristic roadmaps are yet to be formally mentioned.
