Cuttack, July 10: The Delhi Police have arrested a 28-year-old man from Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district in connection with an alleged cyber fraud case and taken him to the national capital on transit remand for further investigation.

The accused has been identified as Babul Behera, son of Kshirod Behera and a resident of Kuamanga village under Raghunathpur police limits in Jagatsinghpur district. He was working at a brick kiln in Nandolgada under Salepur police station in Cuttack district when he was apprehended by the Delhi Cyber Police.

According to police sources, Babul was booked in Delhi Cyber Police Case No. 21/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators allegedly traced his location through his mobile phone before arresting him from the brick kiln.

The case stems from a complaint filed by a Delhi resident, who alleged that he had been duped of Rs 50,000 in a cyber fraud. During the investigation, police reportedly found that nearly Rs 19 lakh had been routed through multiple bank accounts allegedly linked to the accused.

Police suspect that Behera was involved in cyber fraud by using multiple bank accounts to receive money from victims. Following his arrest, he was produced before a local court and later taken to Delhi on transit remand for further investigation.

The investigation into the alleged cyber fraud is underway.
