New Delhi, June 29: The Delhi Cabinet has approved the Delhi EV Policy 2026, which will be effective from July 1, 2026, to March 31, 2030. The policy aims to boost electric vehicle (EV) adoption, reduce pollution, and improve clean transportation across the capital.
Under the new policy, electric vehicles priced up to Rs 30 lakh will receive 100% exemption on road tax and registration fees. Buyers will also get purchase incentives of up to Rs 30,000 for electric two-wheelers,Rs 50,000 for three-wheelers, and Rs 1 lakh for N1 goods vehicles.
Additional scrappage benefits of Rs 5,000 to Rs 1 lakh will be provided for replacing old polluting vehicles with EVs.
The government plans to install over 30,000 EV charging pointsand will transfer incentives directly through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)system. From January 2027, only electric three-wheelers and N1 goods vehicles will be registered, while only electric two-wheelerswill be registered from April 2028.
The policy also targets gradual electrification of school buses and commercial fleets. The Delhi government has allocatedover Rs 7,000 crorefor implementation over the next four years, with the total benefits expected to exceed Rs 15,000 crore.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the policy, supported by the Centre, will help make Delhi cleaner, greener, and future-ready while accelerating the shift to sustainable transport.
