Chandigarh, April 27: The Congress on Monday chose to boycott a special session of the Haryana Assembly, arguing that the proposed discussion on women’s reservation, intended to be addressed through a resolution, was beyond the House’s jurisdiction. The party also accused the ruling BJP of leveraging the session for political messaging and propaganda.
Congress claimed the BJP aimed to use the resolution to criticize the INDIA opposition bloc following the defeat of a Constitutional amendment bill in the Lok Sabha.
Haryana Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda told reporters that the Congress Legislature Party had collectively decided to skip the daylong special session.
