Bhubaneswar, Sep 28: Ahead of the upcoming festive season, police on Sunday seized illegal firecrackers worth more than ₹2 lakh from a godown in Colonypada, under the Karlamunda block of Kalahandi district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Officer-in-Charge Manua Bidika from the Risida police outpost conducted a raid on the premises, which belonged to local businessman Rakesh Kedia. According to reports, the firecrackers were being stored without the necessary permits or safety clearances.
Following the raid, police have ramped up search operations across various locations in Karlamunda to prevent the illegal production and storage of firecrackers in the lead-up to Dussehra and Diwali.
This seizure follows closely on the heels of a similar bust in Boudh district earlier this month, highlighting growing concerns about the widespread circulation of unauthorized firecrackers across Odisha.
