New Delhi, May 11: At least two Indian soldiers including an Indian Air Force officer and a BSF Sub-Inspector were martyred as Pakistani forces increased shelling and carried out drone attacks in the Jammu region in the last 24 hours.
Seven other members of the BSF were also injured in the exchange of fire.
As per reports, Sergeant Surendra Kumar Moga, a 36-year-old medical assistant with the Indian Air Force, was killed in a Pakistani attack while stationed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur.
Moga, hailing from Mandawa in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu, had been posted in Bengaluru but was sent to Udhampur just four days ago because of rising tensions with Pakistan. His family, who live in Mehradasi village in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu, was informed about his death on Saturday.
Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imtiaz was killed when his BSF unit, stationed along the International Border in the RS Pura sector, came under heavy gunfire from Pakistan. He was injured along with seven others. While Imtiaz later died from his injuries, the others are stable and receiving treatment at a medical facility, according to a BSF official.
Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, a soldier from Himachal Pradesh, died on Saturday morning when an artillery shell exploded near his post in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch.
Rifleman Sunil Kumar, 25, from the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, died from injuries he sustained during overnight gunfire and shelling in the RS Pura sector.

It is worth mentioning that India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, with both countries' military leaders deciding to stop all firing and military actions on land, air, and sea starting from 5 p.m. on Saturday, as announced by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
However, later on Saturday, India claimed that Pakistan violated the agreement by continuing firing. In response, the Indian Army began retaliating and is addressing the border intrusions.
At a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Misri said that Pakistan's actions were a clear violation of the agreement made earlier on Saturday afternoon. He stated that India takes these violations very seriously.
India urged Pakistan to take the necessary steps to address these violations and handle the situation responsibly.
